The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is responsible for protecting every member of every community from the impact of infectious diseases, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents and other health threats.

They provide intellectual, scientific and operational leadership at national and local level, as well as on the global stage, to make the nation’s health secure.

THE BRIEF

To create a centralised hub to allow labourites around the UK to record, monitor and report infectious diseases to prevent outbreaks around the UK.

HOW WE DID IT

A dedicated project team based on site worked closely with labourites around the UK. I conducted one to one sessions with lab technicians to understand the process of the data from detection to prevention.  From the finding I created prototypes which were tested with 12 lab technicians. The moderated tests were conducted within their labs to create a realistic experience from lab interactions to interacting with the UI.

THE OUTCOME

We delivered a successful platform which allowed labs around the UK to easier record, share and manage data preventing outbreaks of diseases within the UK. The research conducted within the labs allowed us to create a solution which was crafted around the technicians daily routines.
